NO TE ARREPENTIRÁS…

First of all, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey with me. My time in Spain as an ESC volunteer has truly been a once in a lifetime experience, something that cannot be replaced or compared with anything else. When I first arrived, I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but now, looking back, I can see how much I have learned, grown, and changed, both personally and culturally.

During these months, I have gained so much knowledge about other people, different ways of living, and the beauty of diversity. I had the chance to experience a new culture from the inside, not just as a visitor, but as someone who was living there. I discovered new traditions, languages, and habits, but most importantly, I discovered more about myself. I learned how to adapt to new situations, how to be independent, and how to truly appreciate the little moments that make life special.

This was my very first time being so far away from home for such a long period of time. At first, I thought it would feel difficult, but in reality the time went by so quickly. What was almost a full year felt like just a few weeks. I often caught myself thinking, “How can eleven months feel like only eleven days?” That shows just how fast time passes when you are enjoying yourself, surrounded by amazing people, and constantly learning something new.

Of course, this experience was not only about volunteering, it was about the people. The friendships I built here are something I will carry with me forever. Every laugh, every shared meal, every trip, and every conversation became part of my life story. These are memories that I will treasure for the rest of my life. The support and kindness I received from both the local community and my fellow volunteers made me feel at home, even when I was far away from my actual home.

Now that my project is coming to an end, I look back with nothing but gratitude. I am grateful for the chance to challenge myself, for the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone, and for everything I have gained along the way. I can honestly say that this experience has helped me grow into a stronger, more open-minded, and more confident person.

To anyone who is thinking about joining an ESC project, I can only say: do it. If you want to discover new cultures, meet incredible people from all over the world, and learn more about yourself than you ever imagined, then this is the opportunity you should take. It might feel scary at first, but I promise it is worth it in every way. You will not regret it.

No te arrepentirás.

As for me, I don’t think this is the end of my journey with Spain. I hope that one day, maybe in the near future, I will return, perhaps for even longer this time. Spain, this experience, and the people I met here will always hold a special place in my heart.

Once again, i give my thanks to everyone who was with me along this journey, and this is not a complete goodbye, this is just a see you later alligator.

NIKOLA
